About Australia’s Next Top Model:
The series gives chance to aspiring models to appear on the television. Models from all across the Australia, go through preliminary auditions out of which only finalists get selected to appear on the show proper.
Now, these finalists stay in a house together for several weeks and take part in lectures, challenges, photo shoots and meetings with eminent members of the modelling industry.
Each season of the show has from 9–16 episodes and stars top 10–16 contestants. Contestants are judged weekly on the basis of their performance in fashion challenges, photo shoots, commercial advertisements and their overall appearance.
The weakest performing candidate is eliminated every week while in certain cases a double elimination or non-elimination was given by consensus of the judging panel.
Normally, one contestant is eliminated each week until the last contestant remaining is declared “Australia’s Next Top Model” and receives a modelling contract and other associated prizes, usually a feature spread in an Australian fashion magazine, a cash prize, a new car and meetings with modelling agencies with the intention of securing future work.
In the beginning of the show the participants are administered for a great makeover by the experts of fashion industry. They are also scheduled for a trip to some international destination during the show.
The eminent Jury panel of the show has included names like -model Erika Heynatz, former Harper’s Bazaar managing editor Marguerite Kramer, fashion stylist Ken Thompson, fashion producer Victoria Fisher, fashion photographer Georges Antoni, model-turned-designer Jodhi Meares, model-actress Sarah Murdoch, TV personality Charlotte Dawson and fashion photographer Jez Smith. Also, they invite a guest judge every week for better scrutiny of the participants.
The first season ended in 2005, and Gemma Sanderson was titled with the crown of Australia’s Top Model. The tenth season of the Australian Version ended in September, 2016 and Aleyna FitzGerald was named the winner of the season.
The show has run for 10 successful seasons but due to certain controversies arising, the release of the eleventh season is doubtful.
