About Australian Survivor:
The first two versions of the show could last only for one season due to poor ratings. Then only in 2015, the Network Ten took the initiative to renew the show from 2016. Once again the series commenced airing on August 21, 2016. Unlike its previous versions, the series was successful, enough so for Australian Survivor to be renewed by Network Ten for another season to air in 2017.
The concept of the show is exactly similar to what is there in other International Survivor versions.
Players would be divided in two or three teams called as tribes. The format includes a group of contestants who are left to survive in some isolated place deprived of basic necessities of life. They have to seek food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves.
During their journey they are faced with various challenges and tasks. These challenges range from physical as well as mental challenges. If they perform it well they are provided with rewards, such as food or luxuries and immunity and if they lose they are put in elimination zone. They are made to attend “Tribal Council”, where they must vote one of their players out of the game.
The game continuous and with every passing week a contestant is sent back home as they are voted out by their fellow contestants.
Once about half the players are remaining, the tribes are “merged” into a single tribe, and competitions are now on one on one basis.
The players constantly strive to win immunity to prevent them from being voted out and the players that are voted out during this stage become members of the “Tribal Council Jury”. Once only two people remain, the “Final Tribal Council” is held where the remaining players plead their case to the members of the Jury as to why they should win the game. Now it is totally in the hands of the jury to decide the winner. They cast their vote and the finalist getting maximum votes from the jury becomes the winner and is awarded the title of “Sole Australian Survivor” and the grand prize of A$500,000.
Like other versions, Australian series has added its own twists to the game to make it more interesting and fun for the audience and at the same time to keep their control over the participants. These modifications include tribal switches, having more than two tribes, players being exiled from their tribe, hidden immunity idols to prevent them from being voted out during the Tribal Council and much more.
The Australian Survivor made a comeback in August, 2016 and is still being aired, let us see now who wins the coveted title.
