MasterChef Australia 2018 is a reality game show based on a cooking competition. The format of the show is based on the British Franchise of the same concept, British MasterChef. The auditions for the new 2018 season had already started and the last date of applying is Monday, 7th August 2017. MasterChef Australia 2018 Requirements:

Below are the auditions requirement for the Masterchef season 10:

  • Aged 18 years or above on 30 October 2017
  • Applicant must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Applicant cannot have any formal tertiary or other professional catering qualifications acquired in the last 10 years.
  • All MasterChef contestants must be amateurs, if you have previous professional or semi-professional kitchen experience that the producers of MasterChef deem could create an unfair advantage (at their entire discretion), you will not be eligible.

About MasterChef Australia:

The Australian Version is produced by Shine Australia and screens on Network Ten. Initially Journalist Sarah Wilson, used to host the show but soon the show gave up on her.

The judging panel includes some renowned Chefs like Gary Mehigan, Chef George Calombaris and food critic Matt Preston.

The first season made its debut in Australia on 27 April 2009, and Julie Goodwin, a 38-year-old I.T. office manager was named the winner of the show. Then Adam Liaw, Kate Bracks, Andy Allen, Emma Dean, Brent Owens, Billie McKay and Elena Duggan were the winners of the progressive series respectively.

The show was a huge success and its high TV ratings hatched four spin-off series: Celebrity MasterChef Australia, which featured celebrity contestants, Junior MasterChef Australia, which featured kids, MasterChef Australia All-Stars, which featured  contestants from the first three series, and MasterChef Australia: The Professionals, which features professional chefs as contestants. However, any of these spin-off will not be screened since the producers want to focus solely on the original version.

Initially the show was shot a studio located in Alexandria, New South Wales but later the location shifted to the Melbourne Showgrounds, Flemington, Victoria.

The format of the show includes several rounds out of the initial round is the one where all aspiring chefs present a dish prepared by them to the judges. Now, the three judges have to select top 50 out of them. The eligibility of those contesting includes- age above 18 and not coming from a professional cooking background.

These 50 semi-finalists then compete in several challenges where there culinary skills are tested. The contestants go through weekly elimination rounds until a winning MasterChef is crowned. The winner plays for a prize that includes chef training from leading professional chefs, the chance to have their own cookbook published, and A$250,000 in cash.

Currently the show runs from Sunday to Thursday and follows the same episode format which includes Sunday to be the Challenge night. It includes challenges like Mystery Box, Invention Tests and other Off-Site Challenges and Team Challenges. Top three and bottom three candidates are chosen on the basis of these challenges. The winner gets immunity while the bottom three are put to the elimination zone.

Monday episodes feature the Pressure Test where the bottom three contestants perform for immunity.

Tuesday episodes feature the Immunity Challenge, where the three winners of the Sunday challenge competes against a guest chef and the winner gets the immunity.

Now, Wednesday features a Team Challenge where the participants are divided in two teams. Now, they have to prepare a three course meal to a celebrity guest, running a restaurant for an evening or catering an event such as a birthday party or wedding. Here, the winning team is made free from elimination.

Thursday is another Elimination. The two worst performing contestants from the losing team in the team challenge compete against each other and one gets eliminated.

Friday is the MasterClass where the judges teach some amazing recipes to the contestants or provide them with their valuable guidance and cooking techniques.

The show was a huge hit and received high viewership and eventually became the most viewed show in its timeslot.
